Came here on a whim for a special evening. Lovely place, love the paper table cloth and crayons. Ambience was pleasant, but can get loud depending on other patrons (there was a very loud lady two tables down who luckily left!). Had duck and salmon, very well done. Nice flavors. Wait staff were helpful with suggestions and let us taste test wines. Would definitely come back!!

Nice experience tonight. Very nice young waitress. Food was good. The menu is very limited. They had good entertainment. They were quite busy and the service was still pretty good. I had the salmon. Nothing special, but not bad. My wife enjoyed the Mac and cheese bread was better this time.

Not real busy on a Tuesday. Somehow our reservation wasn't there but it was not a problem. We got seated in a roomy booth overlooking the river. I started with the Caesar salad. I asked for anchovies and they brought me several. They were amazing and I was surprised they were not offered when I ordered the salad. The bill later revealed I was charged an extra $1. Well worth it. I ordered the salmon but asked for it simply grilled and with the sides usually served withy the filet. I was pleased that this request was taken in stride and perfectly acclimated. The salmon came out perfect. One friend got the filet and loved it. The other got the pizza which he said had great flavor but the crust was a little soggy. We had the Malbec wine by the glass and it was good. Yelp lists this as 2$$ but it should be more. Other places on the Internet list it as 3$.

Had high hopes after the glowing recommendations of a few locals. Disappointed that the quality comes no where near what it should be for the price. Seared duck wasn't seared enough, chewy fat instead of the crisp bite you should get from the skin. The salmon was either a few days old or frozen, had a very distinct fishy taste. 2 entrees a beer and a sparkling water was over $80 before tip. Not worth it in my opinion.

Very nice atmosphere for a nice night out. I enjoyed the food but have had much better for the price. I don't have any major complaints but at the same time I don't have any stand out statements to make either. Like I said it makes for a nice meal out but that's about it.

Very disappointing over priced brunch. Slow service on a non-busy Saturday afternoon. Egg sandwich overwhelmed by too much avocado and runny fried egg. Hash brown meal had very little hash brown. Took some of fun out enjoyable afternoon in town.

Update and clarification of my prior review. The person I refer to as the off-putting manager was female. It doesn't appear that Robert would have been that person! We enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back.

Bad food and great service. The restaurant is very cold. I had to wear my jacket all evening. Our crab cakes were cold in the middle. The prices were too high for what was served. My husband had the Caesar salad, pork dish and cheesecake and became violently ill 1.5 hours after dinner with food poisoning. We will not be going back.

Prices for mediocre food must be to pay for remodeling. Looks are deceiving For many years it was one of our favorites. Disappointed

Was alone on a business trip. The waitress and staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The drinks were amazing. Loved the lemon drop! Dinner was great, I had the ceasar salad (basic), a scallop and goat cheese appetizer (delish! The bacon in syrup was so good!), the main course was the filet on gnocci (very tastey), and for dessert I had a french custard with rasperry whip cream. Who can say not to raspberry whip cream. I would come here again and even bring the rest of my team next time Im in town.

Love this place! The food has always been good, the service has always been on point, and the drinks well-balanced. The new owners do a wonderful job of making good, high-quality food in a more casual environment and the prices aren't too expensive. It's not cheap but it's well worth it and it's nice to find a place where I can get perfectly cooked mussels, salmon, and a stiff drink in the land of (bad) pork and corn. The owners are a thrill as well and will happily make things off the menu. I've rarely had a meal this good in the quad cities area.

Was visiting Le Claire and went here after a friend recommended it. I would have to say I was very impressed. I had the Pan seared duck breast special. It was cooked to perfection and the restaurant was very accommodating when I asked to substitute the side item.

I held back one star for the lack of dessert last time. I had the Salted Caramel Toasted Pecan Upside-down Slice of Chocolate Cake Like They Serve in Heaven, so here is your 5th star :) Also excellent were the specials tonight: cream of artichoke soup with brie and braised short ribs with (I think ) mushroom/leek risotto and sugar snap peas. Covering the Midwest for work puts me in a lot of small towns that don't have a lot of options for food, so I really appreciate getting to visit when I have weeks where I get to try something really nice. This is a great little restaurant and they just added outdoor seating so you can now enjoy the "downtown ambience", altho I suspect that means a little more on the weekends than it does in early May :)

My friend Scott M doesn't have access to post here and asked me to write this review for him. My wife and I were here on April 6, 2013 with about 20 other University of Illinois alumni for a private wine tasting with hors de oeuvres. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, The crab cakes were delicious! They made a special dessert for us that was Illinois orange and blue colors. They had a very nice assortment of white and red wines for us to try. Everybody really enjoyed it. Update: 05/23/14 Went to a summer BBQ wine tasting. The heavy appetizers were very good especially the shrimp poor boys!

I was recently here for a family gathering. The atmosphere was lovely and being a chef myself, I enjoyed being able to see into the kitchen. Our waitress was excellent. Very attentive, answering our many questions and able to accommodate our multiple requests. The menu offerings were just enough, with an option to suit everyone in our group. A few members of our group got salads and I was truly surprised at the portion size for the cost. I understand food cost, but this was quite a small salad. With reference to the food, it also took longer than expected to receive our salads and the kitchen looked fully staffed for the business that they had this night. I had the crepe- the short ribs were perfectly cooked. Tender and moist as should be. The carrot purée was also pretty delicious. My only concern was that there was a short dark curly hair in my crepe. Luckily, I noticed it before I took that bite, but would have been mortified if I found myself chewing on a piece of the chefs hair. I had the chicken for my entree and enjoyed that as well. The candied pork belly lacked a bit of flavor and was a little dry, but other than that my dish was wonderful. Overall, I would recommend to other yelp users if they want to have a longer dinner with more time to enjoy their company.

We get there three to four times a year but wish it could be once a month. The food is excellent. Service is always great. Prices are generally at or below what you would expect for what you are getting. The ever changing menu keeps you intrigued. We will be back.

This has been a favorite place of ours since it opened. The original owners have now moved on after many years of owning a successful restaurant. We visited on March 16 to celebrate a birthday but went away disappointed. We had great appetizers of muscles but the entree was a let down as was the service. I had ordered a charred steak rare. It came out a perfect medium. Another person ordered a stuffed chicken breast and was served a leg and wing? Not sure how you confuse that. The waiter never came by to check so we ended up eating what we had. When the chicken screw up was pointed out, at the end of the meal, he ignored us and presented the bill. He even had the nerve to tell us there wasn't a tip on it. We asked for the owner and after some discussion did get a refund for the chicken meal The new owners seem to be focusing on trying to impress customers with their ingredients, etc and forgetting that that is just one step in the chain. Preparing the food correctly and actually serving what was ordered with attentive service would be a nice touch. Too bad the old owners left. They offered imaginative meals, friendly service and a reasonable value. The restaurant was never busy that Saturday night, I can see why. Under the original owners you would have been luck to get a reservation. So the good news is you can get a table with no trouble. The bad news is you wont be happy about it.

We stopped here on a trip to Iowa recently. We had a lovely bottle of Chardonnay at the bar and shared some menu items. The short rib crepe was ok although I thought it really wasn't too much like a crepe but rather like a steamed bun with filling. The crab stuffed calamari was cold (not sure if it was meant to be) and wasn't that good, almost too creamy and bland. The mussels appetizer was probably the best of the three. We shared the lamb chop entree which the staff split for us and it was delish, with pasta and spring peas and tiny baby carrots, cooked perfectly and really a surprisingly large portion. I was a little put off by the bartender at the end of our meal when my husband asked if they had cappuccino and she told us we had to go to the end of the street for it. Huh? A simple no would have been nicer.

Excellent! It was my birthday dinner and it was very special. Excellent food and service. Emily was very attentive . From appetizer to desert all were EXCELENT !

We had dinner at the Faithful Pilot one night during Tug Fest. The service was dreadful and slow. The Servers had been there all day and seemed exhausted and uninterested. We absolutely did not get a smile or a considerate word from any of them. We waited forever for drinks, appetizers, and the main courses. We had the Duck Breast and the Seared Tuna to start and the Salmon and Pappardelle Pasta for the main. Some of the food was satisfactory at best. My pasta was swimming in oil, far too rich, and for the most part inedible for me. The food was terribly overpriced for the quality and portion size. Had I not been with family, I would have complained extensively to the Manager.

Went for lunch today. Fantastic. We were a large group which included several children. The staff was excellent and the chef whipped up a delicious homemade bowl of mac-n-cheese for the kids (which was finished off by the adults, it was so good). The daily homemade molassas and fennel bread is a special treat at the beginning of the meal. The service was wonderful--at one point, I could see that our order was up in the window but the waiter (who was very attentive and provided excellent service) was busy taking another order so the chef actually came out of the kitchen to bring us our food. I think it showed a great team effort by the staff there. The blackberry and cabernet galato at the end of the meal was simply perfect. Highly recommend this place. A gem!

Mmmmmm,,,the steak, the vegetables, the bread, the chocolate cake! We love the organic, local grown food theme that they provide. Great wine, too.

My boyfriend and I came here after a day of walking around town. We heard this was a great place to eat so we decided to try it out. Overall it was alright. The menu prices were a little high for what we had. The part that made this place so that we won't come back was the server we had was so sarcastic that she was almost rude. Also, when we asked to split the bill in half so that we could both pay she said fine, but when we went to leave she yelled to us at the door 'did you make sure to get all the cards you used' i thought this was totally uncalled for. we like to split everything and she was paid and got a 20% tip. Will definitely not go back here because of her.

Best meal and service I've had in the Quad Cities. Thanks for doubling the lobster bisc appetizer and making it a meal. I'll be back.

You will not find better food in the QC. Seasonal menus, great wine and beer selection, and knowledgeable staff all make this place a must. Chef Robert is not afraid to think outside the box when it comes to high end cuisine. With that being said, if you are looking for a big city dining experience in a beautiful small town, this is the place you need to be.
(5)Blake B.
Very pricey. For 2 you won't get out for under $100 if you have a few drinks. Worth it though. My husband & I have loved everything we've had here. Last fall I had a seared duck breast with pumpkin risotto that was amazing! It's our anniversary/special occasion spot! We also went for lunch during Christmas in LeClaire a few years ago & had really good sandwiches. Make reservations though because they do close early on week nights if it's slow & have no reservations.

New owners are really stepping it up at the Faithful Pilot! Very good upscale menu that just came out last night. Great pasta, steak and seafood! Extensive wine list. You need to check this out!

Went for dinner last evening and the food was fine and in some cases excellent. Waitress was perky and attentive, but they still need to work on the details. It is rough around the edges - literally and figuratively. I am hopeful and try to focus on just the food. They need to remember they are not playing the "whole in the wall card, with great food".
(3)Diane K.
Food was really good. Agreed that they need to get together with the servers to understand what they are serving and learn to romance the offerings.

We went there for Sunday Brunch. Very good food, attentive staff, and we received our food quickly. We will go back!

We started out by having to ask for a seat with a better view even though the place was nearly empty and our host had made reservations over a week ago. The waiter had not tried all the food including the specials. My filet was cooked perfectly but the potatoes blend was undercooked and not well seasoned. My wife's pasta dish was supposed to be spicy with some Cajun seasoning, it was Iowa spicy -bland. The cheese cake was good but the raspberry flavoring was meager and not real fruit. I do not mind paying $30 per entree but We do expect better seasonings.
